Bates Heads to Seattle

Well Plan A can be scratched, as Jeremy Bates has decided to take the offensive coordinator job at Seattle under Pete Carroll.

Weis

Bates

Jim Chaney - Tennessee offensive coordinator

Mike Martz - will be angling for head coaching job if he gets it...

Are there any other intriguing names out there?

Bates and Fewell on Bears Radar

As mentioned yesterday, Jeremy Bates - USC offensive coordinator and former QB coach of Jay Cutler - is on the Bears radar for offensive coordinator according to Scout.com.

Charlie Weis unfortunately looks to be heading to Kansas City to join his old friends Romeo Crennel and GM Scott Pioli. Damn.

On the defensive side, Perry Fewell is the first defensive coordinator name we've heard. He took over as coach of the Buffalo Bills after Dick Jauron got fired and was the defensive backs coach for the Bears and Lovie in 2005 before moving to defensive coordinator for the Bills. So it doesn't look like much is going to change scheme-wise on the defense.

Ding-Dong, The Turner Witch is Dead

The Bears made the dreams of at least one little boy come true today by firing offensive coordinator Ron Turner.

(If Turner calls a fullback dive one more time I'm throwing this ball at his nuts.)

Bears Draft Study; 2002 to Present with Colts Comparison

I posted this a couple weeks ago in the comments, and have updated it to include a comparison to a top notch frachise that builds through the draft, the Indianapolis Colts.  Read on for the gory details...

Next Year's Roster Failures

Happy New Year fellow sufferers!

I thought this would be a good time to start a fun thread. And, a New Year's List! How cool is that?

Who do you think will be DeAngelo's biggest screw up next year, roster wise. Let's look ahead, shall we?

In other words, we know he's gonna cut somebody loose. Is it gonna be Kreutz? Pina? A colada? What will be the worst move there? He's made so many it should be easy for us to predict the next one.

Who?

If you're really bold, and you know what's shakin' in the possible free agent market, who do you think he'll not sign. Please don't say Chester Taylor cuz we know he is not smart enough to pick him off the pile. Right?

Go!

All I Want for Christmas...

is a new Bears regime...

(although I do find a bit sad that people donated money for the billboard when there are far needier people out there and far more important causes).

A Confederacy of Morons

Ted Phillips, Jerry Angelo

As I drove home from work on Tuesday I settled in to listen to Hub Arkush on WSCR.

The next half hour listening it took every cell in my body not to drive my car into a median, as Hub Arkush discusses how "decisions" are made in the front office and on replays.

This makes the Cubs organization look like the Phillies's organization.

Jerry Angelo the king of plausable denial.

Please listen while no sharp objects are around you, knowing that Angelo is signed through 2013.

So Lovie's Done Right?

You know, you have these delusions of grandeur of starting a new Bears blog, one that will be better and smarter than anything else out there. Then life gets in the way, work, family, etc. Then the Bears start dropping like flies into a bug zapper, the offensive line does their matador impression all year, the defense lets more guys score than the Bunny Ranch on HBO and all your enthusiam is drained out of you.

Sigh.

On a good note for blog traffic, the Bears may have their public relations ammunition to fire Lovie and Angelo after losing twice to the Packers.  Not that losing to the Packers this year is such a terrible thing, like let's say losing to the Lions twice, but Lovie's proclamation of beating the Packers when he took the job could come back to bite him in the ass and give the McCaskeys and Ted Phillips a hollow talking point to fire him and hopefully Angelo.

Of course, there are plenty of legitimate reasons to fire both, starting with the inability to draft successfully, being a defensive specialist coach with a poor defense the last 2 years, having no idea how to put together an offensive line, the dearth of penalties, having no idea what a good receivers looks like, continuing to employ Ron Turner, so on and so on.

What's Wrong With Jay Cutler? Open field, as we say in football speak

So as I checked in I was gonna pass on a great link, but user Jumbo beat me to it in a comment in my last post. I haven't had a chance to argue with Jumbo (or anyone else here) but I gotta say it will be hard to argue with a dude who linked up to something I was intending this original post to be about.

Anyway, here is the link:

I think this article does a much better job than I did describing what I've been describing about describing about how I am describing my frustrations about the bears, without really describing my real frustrations about them.

Let's hope that there is some kid named Rocky Wirtz around somewhere in the mccaskey (I will not honor this family with its Irish name until they honor us)  family, and let's hope Virginia is not like that Bitch on Heroes if and when if finally shows up. ...... AHHH then, the world says fuck you virginia m(oh dear TMZ has found us).
