Time for Lovie and Angelo to Freshen up Those Resumes?

By doug_plank - Posted on 24 November 2009

According to Chicago NFL guru Hub Arkush on WSCR today, his sources are telling him that Bear ownership is inquiring about Mike Shanahan, Mike Holgrem, Jon Gruden and Bill Cowher regarding their costs.

Arkush reiterated that this was very preliminary and more of kicking the wheels then any actual active negotiations.

I would prefer Holgrem.

How about you?

UPDATE- WSCR reporting only three candidates were contacted- Shanahan, Cowher and Gruden

gruden no, other 3 absolutely. not sure any of the 4 ought to be handed a general managership, so maybe angelo lives to fight another day?

holmgren, shanahan, cowher, gruden would be my order of preference...

all of them are improvements over lovie...

the thing about cowher is that he seemed sort of in the ditka mold, in that guys would run through a brick wall for him, but the X's and O's stuff was more on his coaches, which is fine, but then who are they going to hire for coordinators?

Generally I don't like Gruden, but if he already has a QB, he can't mess that up too bad.

Fire da bums already!

did he hire gruden or was he already out of tampa bay by that time?

holmgren, shanahan or cowher aren't going to want to fight over personal issues with a GM I'm guessing...

Fire da bums already!

angelo came to bears after 2001 draft day. gruden was "traded" by raiders to tampa in 2002.

gruden's success came from inheriting angelo/dungy's club. looks like dungy is the missing ingredient, and bears ought to go after him.

and here's hoping they are. and that the leakage of names like cowher, shanny, and gruden is smokescreen.

Would like to see Gruden at Notre Dame.

Wonder how come B. Billicks name never comes up
never had a quarterback in baltimore, but was great as coordinator in minnesota.

One thing we have that other teams dont is a quarterback
find someone who knows how to handle one.

Rob you may know this ,is the usc offensive coord. the
same guy who was o.c. in denver last year?

I don't think anyone can stand him...

and his ability to judge talent didn't seem very strong in baltimore...

Fire da bums already!

I believe Shanahan was calling the shots the O coordinator in Denver was there in title only.

Billick needs to bring 2001 Ray Lewis with him for his next job.

a source close to Martz says he'd love to work for Bears...I'm sure he'd love to work anywhere besides the NFL Network...

Fire da bums already!
